Friday Love: Alicia Keys & The Sicilian Nun

Last week it was AbuEesagate.

This week it was the #AliceinArabia controversy (which you can read about in Time, The Guardian, and Buzzfeed. And today’s revelation – surprise! – the script is just as awful as we feared).

After all that bakwaas we wanted to end the week on a high note, with this:

A nun — 25-year-old Sister Cristina Scuccia — auditioned for The Voice Italy, with an Alicia Keys track and made everyone watching & listening fall in love with her. Diversity, nuance, joy, love & beauty – some of our favorite themes at play.

Happy Friday!

Thank you for this post, but I have to say this: There’s nothing wrong with a Muslim family or story on American television, it is who writes it and of course the plot. It’s white privilege, would companies like ABC Family hire a Muslim scriptwriter? I don’t know any but I know #SomewhereinAmerica, there’s a good Muslim writer who would love to share their stories. But again would ABC Family allow them to create a show? Just a thought….

oops sorry not “white privilege” basically non-muslim.
