The health benefits of Prunus salicina are numerous. This plant is also known as the Japanese plum or Chinese plum. The Chinese plum is a plant with small leaves which is said to have originated in China. Now this plant is also cultivated in fruit gardens in Japan, Korea, Australia and the United States. Although originally from China, Prunus salicina is also known as the Japanese Plum. It is called the Japanese plum because the plums were first exported to America from Japan, so this fruit is popular with the name Japanese plum.

The uses and benefits of Chinese plum or Japanese plum are as medicine and as fruits. This plant is closely related to plants such as apples, peaches, and other plants in the Rosaceae family. The Chinese plum tree is also known as Prunus mume, and several other names such as Japanese apricot and mei flower. Some people call it the plum, Japanese plum, Chinese plum, and willow leaf cherry.

The most plums in the harvest are Japanese plums, the amount is greater than that of the European plum (Prunus domestica L). Japanese plum can grow well in several areas including areas with warm temperatures, and there are also variants that can and are able to adapt to cooler areas. Plums can be black, purple, red, yellow or green in color. The outer skin color can be yellow or red. Types of plums that have black or red skin have red flesh, this is known as the blood plum.

Chinese Plum Tree Description

The Chinese plum is a small plant that produces many plums, the maximum height of which is 10 meters. Usually this plant in the wild grows in areas with sparse forests. Such as the edge of the forest, shrubs, open forest or bush land and others. The Chinese plum tree grows well in dry, loamy soil and soil rich in organic matter.

The size of the leaves can be 6 to 12 cm, while the width of the leaves is 2.5 to 5 cm. This plant starts flowering usually in April, after flowering small fruit with round seeds will appear. when it begins to bear fruit in April, the harvest period is usually in the next summer.

The seeds are wrapped in a hard wooden shell. The fruit has many shades and colors, while the flesh is red or yellow. There are also several variants whose flesh is red mixed with yellow.

1. Increase appetite

2. Cirrhosis

Fresh Chinese plum is a plum which is rich in nutrition. Among the nutrients offered by Japanese plums are amino acids. Included in amino acids are glutamine, serine, and proline. The high nutritional content makes plums the best choice for preventing cirrhosis of the liver and hepatocellular carcinoma.
