Four Books That Allah Sent Down

As Muslims, we believe that Allah has fielded numerous His holy books to the His Messengers as a clue to his servant. Through the books that Allah sent down, God gives clues about the way of life that a man/His servant to survive in this world. All scripture was sent down to the Apostles is the unbiased truth merely to follow. Among them are the ordinances relating fellow beings and ordinances relate to God as the creator of the universe.

The holy books that have sent down must be trusted by all Muslims, even become one of the pillars of faith for every Muslim. Meaning: If there are Muslims who do not believe in the book, then he has not been considered as a Muslim. Contents rather than the Scriptures that have been sent down are instructions and procedures for humans to survive in navigating life in this temporary world (fana). Every person who has baligh (get the age of Baligh) has an obligation to believe in Allah (Muslim beliefs), believes that Allah is a only God who must be worshiped, believe in the angels, believe in the apostles who have been made up for Giving da’wah to humans, believe in His books that have sent down to the Apostles (some in the form of Suhuf, and some in the form of holy books), believe in the Day of Judgment and to the good profit and bad lucky fortunately (qadha and qadar) from Allah SWT.

So, the Scriptures ruled to people to worship Allah Himself, God as the only creator, as the owner, regulator and so on, as the Word of God in the Scriptures of the Koran which means: “Indeed we have sent our Messengers with Clear Proofs, and Revealed With Them The Scripture and the Balance (Justice) That Mankind May Keep Up Justice. ” (Quran, 57:25)

The scriptures that are reduced to God’s envoy there are four, but in addition, there are also those in the form of sheets (Suhf) as sent down to the Prophet Ibrahim Peace be upon him. Here, we will see the four scriptures or holy books that have been sent down by God to His messengers as a real guide, including the Scriptures that are sent down to the last Apostle, namely the Prophet Muhammad in the form of the Quran, and this is became one of the miracles of the Prophet Muhammad Saw.

The Four Books of Allah

God has sent many holy books to his envoys, but on this occasion we will explain the 4 scriptures that are guidelines for each of the Ummah. Some God’s revelations such as the Gospels, they have been changed with their various desires. But there is one holy book that God sent to His Messenger until now it was still pure and awake its authenticity. This is a scripture that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, namely the Koran. Allah sent down this book to the last apostle, namely the Prophet Muhammad PBUH and Allah himself who looked for it so that it was still awareable. Al-Quran became a book of instructions for the Ummah of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH as the ummah that lived in the end of time. The Quran became the perfect all the previous scriptures, in the Koran not only containing the law, but also the history of the past even information about the Scriptures that had been sent down before.

When the Quran has sent, then all the laws from the previous book have not applicable unless some laws are still valid until now and it also becomes law for the Ummah Muhammad PBUH, such as circumcision law. Formerly was a Prophet Ibrahim’s Shari’a, but is now one part of the Shari’ah of Prophet Muhammad SAW. The Koran has a very deep content, and no secret can explore unless it is only limited to God giving understanding to him. So, it’s only natural that the Koran is able to defeat all poetry experts at that time. Even God is challenging in the Koran to anyone who can bring in one same verse as the Qur’anic language. But no human being able to be able in-spite of cooperate with Jinn. See more: The Jinn in Islam [Part 1 of 2]

Ok, now we will explain about the 4 scriptures that are reduced to His messenger.

1. The Tawrat

One of the Scriptures whose God Almighty sent down was Tawrat, this book was revealed to his messenger named Prophet Musa Alaihissalam. Basically, this Scriptures shows God’s law (Law in the Koran) which will be reduced to the final Rosul, namely the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. But the tawrat is specifically for the Ummah of Prophet Musa Alaihissalam.

Many linked Tawrats with Torah of the Jewish Faith, OR The Old Testament of the Christian Faith. But the contents of the Book of the Torah which belief in Jews is now no longer pure as the book that is reduced to the Prophet Moses. In the Holy Quran of Allah (SWT) Said: “Verily, We did send down the Torah [to Musa], therein was guidance and light, by which the Prophets, who submitted themselves to Allah’s Will, judged the Jews. And the rabbis and the priests [too judged the Jews by the Torah after those Prophets] for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah’s Book, and they were witnesses thereto. Therefore fear not men but fear Me (O Jews) and sell not My Verses for a miserable price. And whosoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, such are the disbelievers.” (Quran, 5:44)

2. The Zabur

Furthermore, we who are revealed to the apostles are Zabur. This is a holy book that was revealed to Prophet David (AS). These are a number of laws that were sent down by the almighty, Allah SWT to his servants as well as the messenger of the prophet David (AS). Now this holy book also no longer applies to humans at the end of time because there is already the Koran as the most complete revelation.

However, in general about the holy book Zabur is mentioned by Allah in the Quran, which means: “…and to Dawood We gave the Zaboor.” (Quran, 4:163)

3. The Injeel

Then there is a holy book called Injeel, this is a book that sent down to Prophet Isa (AS). Injeel is also called the Gospel book, just like the Tawrat book, where the Injeel book has been changed so that it is no longer original as it was revealed to the prophet Isa (AS). If there is still the original text, the book of Injeel should no longer be used as a guide because Allah has sent down the Qur’an as a complement to all previous books.

Just like other books, the general message in the injeel is also in the Koran. In the Qur’an, Allah says which means: “…and My mercy encompasses all things; so I will ordain it (specially) for those who are pious and give Zakah (Obligatory Charity), and those who believe in Our Ayahs. Those who follow the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written down with them in the Torah and the Injeel (who) enjoins them good and forbids them evil, and makes lawful to them the good things and makes unlawful to them impure things, and removes from them their burden and the shackles which were upon them; so (as for) those who believe in him and honor him and help him, and follow the light which has been sent down with him, these it is that are the successful.” (Quran, 7:156)

4. The Holy Quran

The last holy book that sent down to His messenger was the Koran, which is the most complete holy book that Allah revealed to His Messenger, Prophet Muhammad SAW. The message in it is about monotheism or worship of Allah alone, because Allah alone is God, there is no god but Him.

Al-Quran is different from other holy books, because until now the Al-Quran is still maintained its purity and can not be changed in the slightest by those who want to change it, because Allah protects it. Allah says in the Qur’an that the original text of the Qur’an will be preserved forever until the end of time. It has been passed down more than 1400 years ago, until now it is still exactly the same and has not changed at all. The message in the Koran is conveyed in Arabic because only this language has a very broad meaning, and cannot be written in another language because it can reduce understanding. There is no language richer and deeper than the Quran, so it was sent to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in Arabic.

The message in the Koran already includes all messages from the previous holy book, this is as Allah says in the Koran which means: “[It is] He Who has sent down the Book (the Quran) to you (Muhammad (PBUH)) with truth, confirming what came before it. And he sent down the Torah and the Injeel. Aforetime, as a guidance to mankind, And He sent down the Furqaan (The Criterion) [of judgment between right and wrong (this Quran)].” (Quran, 3:3-4).

All Muslims are obliged to believe that all these holy books are from Allah, which is why they are called heavenly books. Muslims are also obliged to believe in all of its contents (the original content of the book, before being changed by humans), but all the contents of the holy book are no longer valid with the revelation of the Koran which Allah Almighty revealed to the last messenger, namely, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). .
