The story begins on March 25, 1930, when La Pascualita made her appearance at a modest wedding dress shop in Chihuahua, Mexico.
When he was placed in the window for some time, someone noticed the “dummy” hand looked very real. The strange color of his skin, the wrinkles and veins, the details of the mannequin made many people start talking about him.
Later, it was revealed that the doll was very much like the daughter of the recently deceased shop owner. The owner of the wedding dress shop was named Pascuala Esparza and he had a beautiful daughter who died on her wedding day from being bitten by a black spider. The story says that he mummified his daughter’s body, and then displayed it in his shop window, thus he thought that his dead daughter could be a bride he had never experienced in his life.
