Windows 10 Backup and Restore, Let Look How to Do
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Windows 10 is the latest operating system developed by Microsoft. The interface is newer and some additional features. Apparently, Windows 10 still maintains the backup history file utility from Windows before, Windows 8. However, we also have to consider the latest backup storage systems such as cloud.

Secure data storage seems like it’s time we do it. Especially lately the media page has been decorated with news of ransomware attacks. So, it has become a necessity for a secure storage system.

All business people must lose their data and access their data illegally. If this happens then a big loss will hit the company. They even had to close the company because their data was damaged or lost. Of course, this is something that no one wants. So, backup storage is very much needed and a safe place to store like cloud.

Windows 10 Backup and Restore

Fortunately, Windows 10 users can backup data regularly with several alternatives. Microsoft still maintains a Windows 8 utility system that is considered good as a history file. The average user is easy to use and handle it. However, Windows 10 also uses another system utility that can back up the entire operating system and its settings.

Windows 10 users can backup their data to Microsoft’s OneDrive cloud storage service. Already hundreds of millions of users use this service to store their backup data. Since August 2017, it has been claimed that there are 115 million OneDrive customers, and 85% of Fortune 500. Here are various ways to backup Windows 10 for your business.

Backup with File History in Windows 10

One of the backup systems for Wins 10 is File History just like Windows 8 or 8.1. The function of File History is still somewhat the same as in Windows 8 but the interface is a bit different. This History file allows users to back up data regularly (scheduled) and make storage on external drives. This feature is still available on Windows 10 but has been developed so it is quite different from Windows 8.1. Thus told by technology consultant for Microsoft, Russell Smith. So, you can connect it to a network drive or a USB drive to backup the backup.

If the user makes a Backup History File setting to a USB drive then they must connect the USB drive regularly. Russell said if the user forgets to connect the USB on a certain day then Windows will warn (that day) that he is not doing a backup.

However, if users backup to a mapped network drive, this is not available. In this case, File History will backup the local disk if there is a USB drive available. The same case also occurs when a network drive is available.

How to Turn on File History in Windows 10

The File History feature is created with the aim of making it easier for users to back up important files. So, by default this feature backs up major file folders such as desktop, downloads, document, picture, music, video and some elements from the data folder. However, the user can limit or choose which folder to backup.

How to set up File History is very easy. The first step is to open the “start menu”, click on settings and select “update” then click on the backup section. It’s so easy to set up File History, said Smith.

Here the user will see options for backup using the File History feature. Here’s how to add Drive. Then the user needs to click on the symbol to see a list of hard drives connected to the PC. Then select the drive you want.

Then, the drive added will change to Back Up My Files automatically. Regularly and scheduled backups will be stored there. By default, File History creates backup files at intervals of one hour. But as a user, you can set yourself as you want. Users can also set how long File History saves, by default it’s forever.

How to Restore Backup File with File History

As easy as backing up files, restoring files that have been backed up is also very easy. You can click on the start menu in the Windows Taskbar 10. Type “History File” in the search box. Next, you will see the “Restore Your Files With File History” option. If you choose this, a small window will appear showing the file you have backed up on the external drive.

Smith suggests that users do not backup files locally but use network drives or cloud. If as a leader in a company, you must consider this. Always backfile the cloud or network drive. As an Admin or company leader, you can make regulations not to save on local drives.

Can Windows 10 Make System Image Backups?

Windows 10 Backup and Restore is amazing. Wins 10 not only can backup files with File History but it can also backup all of its operating systems. Can backup all files and settings. Actually, this remote feature is also available on the tool in Windows 7 by making a full system image backup. Even on Windows 10, this feature is again used after it isn’t on Windows 8.

As Smith said, Windows 10 users who want to use the backup image feature, the user have to access the Backup and Restore (Windows 7 feature) option through the control panel (see how to access the control panel). Click on “create a system Image” select the location where you saved the backup results, whether you will save on a local drive, network drive, or DVD. Then, select the drive to start the backup process. Then you are told to make the disc repair system. This will be used to start the PC and restore the image backup.

How to Set Up Backup to Cloud Using OneDrive

Besides backing up to PC hard drive, external hard drive and to network drive. You can also backup to the Cloud through OneDrive cloud. If you are storing here you can restore and synchronize files to the public cloud. Through this feature, Microsoft gives you several choices for its large capacity.

Files that are inserted into the OneDrive folder will automatically be uploaded to Microsoft Azura Cloud. Users can access the file by logging in to the Cloud, with any device.

This storage process is very useful so that it also has damage to one place, we still have access to that data. Backing up data with cloud provides high comfort to users.
