The Boardman Tree Farm is a timber farm owned by the GreenWood Tree Farm Fund and the farm is managed by a Portland-based farm management group. The boardman’s wood farm is located in Morrow, County Oregon, and lines the interstate 84.5 miles west of the I-82 junction. GreenWood Resource is an area of 25000 hectares and is planted with thousands of hybrid trees. The Boardman Tree Farm is one of many lands owned by GreenWood Resources in North America, South America, and including China. There are 40 acres, 70 acres and have their own path to access there. Each hectare contains about 600 trees. The use of pesticides is very limited, because they also use an integrated pest control process. They use sawdust and sawdust to control weeds in the soil and this also limits the tree’s need for fertilizer.
The trees that are cultivated at the Boardman tree farm are Pacific Albus species, this means Pacific eucalyptus and has become their trademark. This wood is a hybrid of 4 or even 5 different poplars. The result of this cross produces a quality wood with fast growth, straight stems, does not require much water, so that the income from the cultivation of this wood becomes more optimal with less capital.
To be harvested, Pacific Albus wood takes 10 to 12 years. This wood is then harvested by cutting it down and sending it to factories for various purposes. Wood chips are used as raw material for making paper, while older and taller trees are harvested to be used as production wood. Even the finer parts of the sawdust are pressed into bricks for fireplaces and wood stoves.
The wood processing factory is operated by GreenWood resource and is located in the middle of a tree plantation. Every year they can harvest as much as 2000 hectares of wood. This processed lumber is then marketed to various countries such as China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Mexico.
