The meaning of Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullah is salvation and Allah’s grace may be bestowed on you. This is a greeting or salvation that is pronounced by a Muslim when he meets a Muslim brother. This sentence should not be spoken to non-Muslims because they are not safe according to the teachings of Islam.

Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullah Meaning
There is also a more perfect greeting, namely Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatuh which means that hopefully the safety, God’s grace and blessings be bestowed on you. Saying greetings between fellow Muslims whether they are visiting, when meeting on the street, are known or not very good to strengthen Islamic brotherhood and strengthen Islamic brotherhood relations.
The law of saying greetings is sunnat against fellow Muslims, while answering greetings is obligatory (rewarded for those who answer and sin for those who do not).
The response to someone’s greetings is with the word “Wa’alaikum salam warahmatullah” or it can also be added “wabarakatuh”. The meaning of the greeting is “and upon you the salvation and mercy of Allah and His blessings”.
A greeting that is highly recommended for Muslims because it contains extraordinary prayers, namely prayer for the safety of our brothers and prayers to be given mercy (love) and blessings. The answer to that greeting also contains the same prayer. In essence, Muslims are encouraged to pray for one another so that good Islamic brotherhood can be established and unity is established.

Here we see the writing of Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullah wa barakatuh in Arabic, Latin writing and in writing Assalamualaikum in English.
The greeting in the Latin script is: Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuh
Meanwhile, the Arabic greeting is: السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
Greetings in English: May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
Now that we know the writing of greetings in Arabic and English, we now look at the meaning of the greeting itself. Some of the meanings of greetings are as follows:
1. Love and cherish each other
because the content of greetings is to pray for each other for the safety of both the world and the hereafter.
2. All creatures depend on Allah
Giving greetings also means that we need Allah who can save and give His love and blessings to servants.
3. Provide a sense of security
Saying greetings to someone gives an understanding that we have provided security to someone. We have guaranteed someone from our crimes or we will not do evil to him (the person we greet).
So, one way to keep us safe from someone is to blame him, because when he hears our greetings, he will answer greetings because answering greetings is obligatory. When he answers greetings, it means that he has given us a sense of security, peace and safety.

Hadiths About Salam
In connection with the pronunciation of salutations that are circumcised, here are some hadiths related to the recommended greetings to be pronounced to brothers of the faith.
أَىُّ الإِسْلاَمِ خَيْرٌ قَالَ « تُطْعِمُ الطَّعَامَ ، وَتَقْرَأُ السَّلاَمَ عَلَى مَنْ عَرَفْتَ ، وَعَلَى مَنْ لَمْ تَعْرِفْ »
Meaning: What better Islamic practice? Rasulullah SAW said: Giving food, greeting people you know and people you don’t know. (HR. Bukhari no. 6236)
Furthermore, there is a hadith from ‘Amar bin Yasir, Rasulullah SAW which says:
ثَلاَثٌ مَنْ جَمَعَهُنَّ فَقَدْ جَمَعَ الإِيمَانَ الإِنْصَافُ مِنْ نَفْسِكَ ، وَبَذْلُ السَّلاَمِ لِلْعَالَمِ ، وَالإِنْفَاقُ مِنَ الإِقْتَارِ
Meaning: Three things, whoever collects (gets) all of them, his faith is truly perfect. (1) be fair to oneself (2.) greet everyone (3) spend a living in a situation of need.
There is a hadith from Abu Hurairah, Rasulullah SAW said;
يُسَلِّمُ الرَّاكِبُ عَلَى الْمَاشِى ، وَالْمَاشِى عَلَى الْقَاعِدِ ، وَالْقَلِيلُ عَلَى الْكَثِيرِ
Meaning: People who drive greet people walking on their feet, people walking on feet greet people who are seated, and people who are little greet people who are large.
In another hadith which is in line with this hadith, Rasulullah SAW said:
يُسَلِّمُ الصَّغِيرُ عَلَى الْكَبِيرِ ، وَالْمَارُّ عَلَى الْقَاعِدِ ، وَالْقَلِيلُ عَلَى الْكَثِيرِ
This means: The easy one wants to greet the elders, the past person (walks) greets the seated and the little person greets the large number of people.
