Explanation of Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum
This is explained by Ibn Hajar Al Asqalani in his book entitled “Fathul Bari”, he said that the companions of the Prophet Muhammad when they met at the moment of Eid al-Fitr, they said the sentence “taqabbalallahu minna wa minka.” between each other.
Well, when this saying is said by the companions of the Prophet SAW, and the Prophet SAW who knows it does not forbid it, then this is also called a hadith (because it is taqrir from the Prophet SAW) or is called a taqriri hadith.
Furthermore, in this case, Sayyid Sabiq in his book “Fiqh Sunnah” also explains the sentence “Taqabbalallahu Minna Wa Minkum” even he says this is not only said during the Eid al-Fitr moment, but also during Eid al-Adha. This is as stated in a hadith narrated by Jubair bin Nafir, he said, “When the companions of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam met on Eid, they would say taqabbalallahu minna wa min kum.” Here it is only mentioned “on the holidays” so it is general in nature, it can be Eid al-Adha or Fitri.
Meaning of Taqabbalallahu Minna Wa Minkum
Saying Taqabbalallah Minna Wa Min kum is not only a Eid greeting, but it is also a du’a, because of the meaning of the sentence:
تَقَبَّلَ اللَّهُ مِنَّا وَ مِنْكُمْ
“May Allah accept the practice (fasting and other practices) from us and from you”.
We know that in the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast during the day, perform tarawih prayers at night and pray witr, then on the night of Eid al-Fitr recite takbir, tahmid, and tahlil. All of that is worship that is valuable in the sight of Allah SWT.
