Dajjal is a sign of the end of time or a sign of the end of the world. Talking about the Dajjal and the end times is something that is always interesting and mysterious to discuss. So it is necessary to talk about the arguments both from the verses of the Koran and the hadiths that tell about the Dajjal, of course the understanding of these arguments must be in accordance with the understanding of ahlussunnah wal jamaah.
In understanding ahlussunnah wal jamaah, Dajjal is real and will come out at the end of time. There are many hadiths that talk about this la’natullah creature. without the need for us to aentakwil or divert the meaning of the hadith. Information or news about the Dajjal is something unseen and this includes things that are sam’iyyah so we must hear it in accordance with the information reported by the Messenger of Allah, Majesty the Rasulullah SAW.
Why should you listen to what Rasulullah SAW said. because Raasululullah is a noble man who is trustworthy and every word of his is true or siddiq and the information he says is directly from Allah through the angel Gabriel.
Shaykh Abu Ja’far at-Thahawy (d. 321 H) in Al-Aqidah at-Thawiyah said about the signs of doomsday, and among them is the Dajjal.
ونؤمن بأشراط الساعة من خروج الدجال ونزول عيسى ابن مريم عليه السلام من السماء ونؤمن بطلوع الشمس من مغربها وخروج دابة الأرض من موضعها
Meaning: and we believe in the sign of doomsday starting from coming out of the Dajjal, the descent of Isa bin Maryam as. from the sky, and we believe in the rising of the sun from the west, and the coming out of the earth’s beast from its place.
Hadits Rasulullah SAW about the Characteristics of the Dajjal
The meaning of Dajjal is a liar, the origin of the word is dajjala and in terminology, Dajjal is defined as someone who covers up something so that in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad. This Dajjal is called A’war. So, this Dajjal is an evil being who covers up the truth and the one who lies the most. If we look at history, liars are usually called Kadzzâb, or Dajjâl.
About the Dajjal, in several hadiths mentioned by Rasulullah SAW. as in the hadith narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar radhiyallahu ‘anhuma as follows:
Abdullah ibn Umar said “Rasulullah SAW. Standing in front of the companions, then Rasulullah SAW. Praised Allah who is the owner of all praise, then he said about the Dajjal,” I remind you and not every prophet except to remind his people, but I will tell you the words that never said by the prophets to his people. Indeed, the Dajjal has one eye and Allah is not one-eyed “(Bukhari and Muslim).
In the hadith above, it is stated that the characteristics of the Dajjal are one-eyed, so the Muslims when one day at the end of the day the Dajjal will come out and he lies by saying that he is a god, then the Muslims must know that it is Dajjal and not God because of God. not one-eyed. It is said that many people whose faith is not strong are tempted and become followers of the Dajjal, na’uzubillaah min zaalik.
The next characteristics of the Dajjal were mentioned by Rasulullah SAW. In a hadith narrated by Abu Daud, this hadith is taken from ‘Ubadah bin ash-Shamit Radhiyallahu’ anhu which reads as follows.
إِنَّ مَسِيْحَ الدَّجَّالِ رَجُلٌ، قَصِيْرٌ، أَفْجَعُ، جَعْدُ، أَعْوَرٌ، مَطْمُوْسُ الْعَيْنِ، لَيْسَ بِنَاتِئَةٍ وَلاَ جَحْـرَاءَ، فَإِنْ أَلْبَسَ عَلَيْكُمْ؛ فَاعْلَمُوْا أَنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَيْسَ بِأَعْوَرَ.
Meaning: “In fact the Dajjal is still a man, short, the distance between his two calves is far apart, his hair is curly, one blind, the eye that is rubbed is not too prominent and not too deep, so if he is committing fraud (claiming to be Rabb) to you, then know that your Rabb is not one-sided, “(Abu Dawud).
So the hadith narrated by Abu Daud, can complement the hadith narrated by Bukhari Muslim above about the characteristics of the Dajjal LA (la’natullah ‘alaih).
The Appearance of Imam Mahdi and Isa ibn Maryam
To speak more sharply about the story of the Dajjal, we need to mention about Prophet Isa. and Imam Mahdi as these two can complement the history and story of the Dajjal.

A hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas, the cousin of the Prophet SAW, whom the Prophet SAW had prayed for, became an expert commentator, along with its reads.
قال ابن عباس، قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: فعند ذلك ينزل أخي عيسى ابن مريم من السماء على جبل افيق, اماما هاديا وحكما عادلا
Meaning: “Ibn Abbas said, said Rasulullah SAW, then when it sent down my brother ‘Isa ibn Maryam As. From the sky on jabal (hill) Afiiq, as a priest and a just judge”. This hadith was takhrij by Ishaq Ibn Bashir, and Ibn ‘Asakir, as stated in the book Kanzul’ Umal.
So, when the Dajjal comes out there will be two noble humans who will improve the situation at that time and kill the Dajjal.
عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:لن تهلك أمة أنا في أولها ، وعيسى ابن مريم في آخرها ، والمهدي في وسطها. رواه النسائي ، [ص-182] وأبو نعيم في ( أخبار المهدي ) ، والحاكم وابن عساكر في (تاريخيهما) . ولفظهما: ((كيف تهلك أمة أنا في أولها ….)) . كما في ((كنز العمال)) . وهو حديث حسن كما في ((السراج المنير)) للعزيزي .

Meaning: From ibn Abbas Ra. Rasulullah SAW said: The ummah that I was in the beginning will not perish, Isa bin Maryam in the end and almahdi in the middle.
We need to know that the appearance of Imam Mahdi is an early sign of the end of the Kubra and the emergence of Isa (as), he invited Imam Mahdi to become the prayer priest.
In Sahih Al-Bukhari, Juz ‘4, page 134 it is stated as follows:
أخرج البخاري بسنده: عن نافع مولى أبى قتادة الآنصاري ان أبا هريرة رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله كيف أنتم إذا نزل ابن مريم فيكم وامامكم منكم
Meaning: Abu Hurairah ra. said, said Rasulullah SAW. how would you if ibn Maryam came down among you and became a priest among you.
Another hadith about the descent of Isa. and Imam Mahdi;
وروى الحارث بن اسامة في مسنده بسنده عن جابر بن عبد الله: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: ينزل عيسى بن مريم، فيقول أميرهم المهدي تعال صل بنا، فيقول لا، إن بعضهم أمير بعض تكرمة الله لهذه الآمة (قال ابن القيم: “إسناده جيد” ,المنار المنيف لابن القيم ص ١٤٧) ـ
Meaning: Al-Harith bin Usamah narrated in his Musnad from Jabir bin Abdullah he said: Rasulullah said: “Isa ibn Maryam will come down, then their emir Al-Mahdi said, ‘Come here! Pray with us!’ Isa said ‘No. In fact some of them are emirs, some others as the glorification of Allah for this people’. ” (Ibnul Qayim said, “The narration of this hadith is really good.” Al-Manar Al-Munif by Ibn Al-Qaiyim page 147).
About where the Prophet (s) will be buried is mentioned in a hadith, as follows:
ورواه الطبراني في المعجم الكبير (١٣/١٥٩ رقم ٣٨٤) – ومن طريقه المزي في تهذيب الكمال (١٩/٤٩٥) – من طريق عبدالله بن نافع الصائغ، عن عثمان بن الضحاك بسنده، ولفظه: يدفن عيسى عليه السلام مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وصاحبيه، فيكون قبره الرابع
Meaning: Prophet Isa was buried with the Prophet Muhammad. and his friends, then later that grave will be the fourth grave.

The killing of Dajjal Laknatullah
In a hadith, Rasulullah states that After Prophet Isa kill the Dajjal, then Prophet Isa would occupy this earth for 40 years.
Sayyidatina A’isyah said that Rasulullah SAW:
إِنْ يَخْرُجِ الدَّجَّالُ وَأَنَا حَىٌّ كَفَيْتُكُمُوهُ وَإِنْ يَخْرُجِ الدَّجَّال بَعْدِى فَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَيْسَ بِأَعْوَرَ إِنَّهُ يَخْرُجُ فِى يَهُودِيَّةِ أَصْبَهَانَ حَتَّى يَأْتِىَ الْمَدِينَةَ فَيَنْزِلَ نَاحِيَتَهَا وَلَهَا يَوْمَئِذٍ سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَابٍ عَلَى كُلِّ نَقْبٍ مِنْهَا مَلَكَانِ فَيَخْرُجَ إِلَيْهِ شِرَارُ أَهْلِهَا حَتَّى الشَّامِ مَدِينَةٍ بِفِلَسْطِينَ بِبَابِ لُدٍّ – وَقَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ مَرَّةً حَتَّى يَأْتِىَ فِلَسْطِينَ بَابَ لُدٍّ – فَيَنْزِلَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ فَيَقْتُلَهُ ثُمَّ يَمْكُثَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ فِى الأَرْضِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً إِمَاماً عَدْلاً وَحَكَماً مُقْسِطاً
Meaning: “If Dajjal comes out and I am still alive then I will defend you from Dajjal, and if Dajjal comes out after me, then in fact your Lord ‘Azza Wajalla is not one-eyed (one-eyed) and Dajjal will come out in Ashbihan Jews until he comes to Medina. and descended on the edge, and Medina at that time had seven doors. At each door there was an angel guarding him, then going out to become a follower of the Dajjal as bad as the inhabitants of Medina from it to Sham right in the city of Palestine at the door of Lud. ” and Abu Daud said at one time, “Until the Dajjal came (arrived) in Palestine at Lud’s door, then Isa ‘alaihis-salam came down and killed him, then Isa’ alaihis salam lived on earth for forty years and became a just priest and judge. fair, “(HR Ahmad, 6/75).
Opinion of Ulama About Dajjal
Based on various arguments about the Dajjal, the mmuktabar gives an opinion about the state of the Daajjal as follows.

- It arises from Khurasan, or Ashbihan or around it. So not from Europe, Africa, Asia and others.
In a sahih hadith, Rassulullah SAW.
إنه يهودي وإنه لا يولد له ولد وإنه لا يدخل المدينة ولا مكة
Meaning: That actually Dajjal is a Jew, and he does not have children, and that Dajjal does not enter Medina and Mecca.
Before the emergence of the Dajjal, at the end of time there would be many liars, Rasulullah SAW. calling it there will be about 30 liars whose way of lying is similar to the Dajjal. In a hadith riwayaa Huzhaifah, Rasulullah SAW said:
في أُمَّتِي كَذَّابُونَ ودَجَّالُونَ سَبَعَةٌ وعشرونَ منھم أَرْبَعُ نسوةٍ وإِنِّي خاتمُ النبیین لا نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي
Meaning: “Among my people there are liars, namely the dajjal, as many as 27 people. Among them are 4 women. I am the closing prophet who is no longer a prophet after me.”
In another hadith, Rasulullah SAW said:
يخرج الدجال من أمتي فيمكث أربعين فيبعث الله عيسى بن مريم كأنه عروة بن مسعود الثقفي فيطلبه فيهلكه
Meaning: Come out of the Dajjal from my ummah and stay on earth for 40 days. So then Allah sent the prophet Isa ibn Maryam, as if it were Urwah Ibn Mas’ud at-Tsaqafy. So the prophet Isa looked for the Dajjal and then kill him.

Place of Killing Dajjal
Where was the Dajjal killed? An-Nawwas bin Sam’an said: One morning Rassulullah SAW mentioned the Dajjal, he lowered his voice and raised him so that we thought he was in a collection of date palms.
فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ بَعَثَ اللَّهُ الْمَسِيحَ ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ فَيَنْزِلُ عِنْدَ الْمَنَارَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ شَرْقِىَّ دِمَشْقَ بَيْنَ مَهْرُودَتَيْنِ وَاضِعًا كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى أَجْنِحَةِ مَلَكَيْنِ إِذَا طَأْطَأَ رَأَسَهُ قَطَرَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَهُ تَحَدَّرَ مِنْهُ جُمَانٌ كَاللُّؤْلُؤِ فَلاَ يَحِلُّ لِكَافِرٍ يَجِدُ رِيحَ نَفَسِهِ إِلاَّ مَاتَ وَنَفَسُهُ يَنْتَهِى حَيْثُ يَنْتَهِى طَرْفُهُ فَيَطْلُبُهُ حَتَّى يُدْرِكَهُ بِبَابِ لُدٍّ فَيَقْتُلُهُ ثُمَّ يَأْتِى عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ قَوْمٌ قَدْ عَصَمَهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ فَيَمْسَحُ عَنْ وُجُوهِهِمْ وَيُحَدِّثُهُمْ بِدَرَجَاتِهِمْ فِى الْجَنَّةِ
Meaning: when the Dajjal is like that, Allah will raise the Prophet Isa (as). So Prophet Isa descended around the white tower to the east of Damsyiq, wearing two clothes dipped in wars and za’faran in a state of placing his hands on the two wings of an angel. When he bows his head, water drips, and when he raises his head the water flows like pearls. Neither the disbeliever smells it unless he is going to die. The smell of his breath was as far as the eye could see. Isa as. searched for Dajjal until he met him at Lud’s door and killed him. After that Isa Ibn Maryam came to a people who were guarded by Allah from the Dajjal. He rubbed their faces and told them their levels in heaven. “(Narrated by Muslim no. 2937)
From the above hadith it is clear that the Prophet isa. kill the Dajjal when he found him at Lud’s door and kill him. That is the condition of the Dajjal, the characteristics of the Dajjal, and the story of the killing of Dajjal. May we all avoid the slander of the Dajjal and be safe as believers.
