We may have heard the Doa Allahummaghfirlaha but sometimes don’t know where it is recited and what du’a is it? So, in this post we will explain the meaning of this prayer and how it is read and where it is used.

For some people who have never studied religion, this du’a seems very rarely heard let alone know what it means? In this article we will explain the meaning of prayer with the aim that we can understand it and can practice it properly.

The prayer or doa Allahummaghfirlaha or Allahummaghfirlahu is a common prayer and has been known by most people about its use, it’s just that people who are reluctant to study religion don’t know it or children who are just learning. This prayer is a prayer that is read when performing the janazah prayer and read after the second takbir.

If the janazah that is prayed is a man then the reading is Allahummaghfirlahu and if it is a woman it is recited with Allahummaghfirlaha, using the dhamir “ha” which refers to women.

Allahummaghfirlaha Dua and It’s Meaning

Apart from being read in salah, this dua can also be read out of prayer if you hear someone died or are reminded of someone who has died. For more details about the Allahummaghfirlaha du’a and its meaning, let’s see the following explanation.

Doa Allahummaghfirlaha warhamha wa ‘afiha wa’fuanha has the meaning: “O Allah, forgive (her) and have mercy on her, and give her salvation”. Using dhamir HA if the corpse is female, and if it is a man then we use dhamir HU, for example: Allahummaghfirlahu warhamhu wa ‘afihi wa’fuanhu.

Dari Auf bin Malik, beliau berkata:

Meaning: Rasulullah SAW prayed on the janazah, and I memorized the prayer he recited, he said: Allahummaghfirlahu warhamhu wa ‘afihi wa’fuanhu.

In the above hadith, Rasulullah SAW recites a prayer using the dhamir HU which shows that the janazah is a man.

Du’a for female janazah:

Meaning: “O Allah, forgive and mercy her. Save and forgive her.”

For female janazah we recite doa by replacing dhamir HU with HA which indicates “she is a woman”. In terms of prayer, only what is read to the deceased male and female, what distinguishes it is the dhamir used. If men use dhamir HU and if women use HA.

The complete du’a is:

Artinya: “Allahummaghfir lahaa warhamhaa wa ‘asfihaa wa fu’anhaa wakrim nudzulahaa wawasi’ mudholahaa wagsilhaa bilmaai watsalji wal barodi wanaqqohaa min khotooyaa kamaa naqoitats tsaubal abyado minad danasi wabdilhaa daarol khoiron min daarihaa eaahlan khoiron min ahlihaa wajaudzan khoiron nin jaudzihaa waadhilnaj jannata wa a’idzhaa min adzaabil qobrii au min adzabin naar”.
