When the Night of Lailatul Qadar Occur, this is the Explanation!

Lailatul Qadar

The night of lailatul Qadar is one extraordinary night that Allah gave to his servant especially to the Ummat of the prophet Muhammad SAW. In the Al-Quran, Allah says in the surah Qadar which means: Waiting for us to send down the Koran on the night of Qadar, What is the night of Qadar, the night of Qadar is a night that is better than a thousand months.

So, it is clear that one night of lailatul Qadar is equivalent to a thousand other months for which there is no lailatul Qadar in it. Allah sent down the Koran to the sky of the world or to a place in the sky of the world called baitul ‘izzah and this happened on the night of Qadar, which is the great night of glory. Why did Allah choose the night of qadar as the time to bring down the Koran to the heavens of the world? The answer is that because the night of qadar is a great night, the great Koran is appropriate and worthy only to be sent down on the great night.

So when did the lailatul Qadar happen? Before we explain the time or when the lailatul Qadar took place, first we need to look at the story of why Allah gave this night of lailatul Qadar to the ummah of the prophet Muhammad SAW.

The Origin of the Night of Lailatul Qadar

It is narrated in the Shawi Tafsir book that it was reported to the Prophet Muhammad SAW that there was a young Israelite who carried a sword around his neck for a thousand months (83 years 4 months) in fighting in the way of Allah to uphold religion. Rasulullah was amazed by the extraordinary reward from this young man because he had fought for a thousand months to defend Allah’s religion. Then Rasulullah SAW said and complained to Allah.

يا ربى, جعلت أمتى أقصر الامم أعمارا و اقلها اعمال

“O my Lord, you made my Ummah the ummah with the shortest age and the least amount of charity.”

So, then Allah SWT gave this extraordinary night to the ummah of the prophet Muhammad SAW. That is why this one night is comparable to another thousand months where there is no night of lailatul Qadar in it.

So, it is very clear to us that we have to peek and watch over that night because just one night we worship if it coincides with the night of Lailatul Qadar, then the reward is the same as a thousand months or 83 years. This is truly an extraordinary gift that Allah gave to the ummah of the Prophet Muhammad.
