Rainier Tower, or The Beaver Building – Seattle Upside Down Building

The Beaver Building - Seattle Upside Down Building

We will talk about a unique building called “The Beaver Building” or Rainer Tower. Called The Beaver Building because this building has a bottom similar to the trunk of a beaver bite tree. Do you know the beaver? This is a logger from among the rodents.

The North American beaver is able to cut down a small tree in just a matter of minutes, it uses only four front teeth, barks at the tree in circular motions and eats the soft parts of the trunk and can eventually uproot a tree. That’s the beaver, and it has to do with “The Beaver Building.” Take a look at the onion part of this building, it’s very unique isn’t it, and also pay attention to the logs that the beavers cut down. You will know why the building whose name is “Rainier Tower” is called The Beaver Building.

This is The Rainier Tower in the Metropolitan Tract of Seattle, Washington, at 1301 Fifth Avenue, possibly the result of a beaver eating tree trunks. Rainier Tower is a skyscraper with 31 floors that looks very unique, where the foundation is made of concrete with 11 floors and it tapers to the ground surface. This is unique, as if this building was bitten by a beaver from below, and local people prefer to call it the “beaver building”. How? You certainly already know why this building is called by the name of a rodent.

How exactly about the design of this unique building? Was this designed by beavers? Of course not, this unique building is the result of the design of a famous architect with a variety of monumental works, he is Japanese-American Minoru Yamasaki, the designer of the now destroyed American WTC (World Trade Center) building.

This unique building, before the start of construction, engineers tested the strength of the building to withstand earthquake storms. This strange design and at first glance seems impossible, it turns out that it can also provide benefits for the movement of the wind below which is blocked by many other buildings.

Rainier tower building was completed in 1977, this building was named Rainier Bank, and then in the 1980s merged into Security Pacific and eventually into Bank America. Then in 1989 the name of this tower changed after the name “Security Pacific” to UW and then it was renamed back to its original name, namely: “Rainier Tower” in 1995.

In early 2007 to 2008, the owner of this skyscraper launched a campaign under the name “Movies on the Pedestal”, the base of the building was used as a projection with a size of 50 feet. There are many films that are shown there such as: The Bourne Ultimatum, Casino Royale, Batman Begins, and others.
