How to Germinate Seeds Quickly

On this article, we will discuss about how to germinate seeds quickly, and also about how to planting the hard seeds, follow the following tips.

Seeds are the origin of all plants. This is a miracle, a very small seed can produce large trees and even giant trees that can live hundreds of years. All start from seeds, seeds germinate by growing roots that penetrate the ground, grow stems and leaves to become trees.

How to Germinate Seeds Quickly

Some seeds do not need human intervention to be able to germinate and grow like trees that grow naturally. However, some others need ways and human intervention to grow optimally. For plants like this, planters usually grow seeds over the tissue.

How to Germinate Seeds

After growing well, then the germinating seeds are transferred to the soil for faster and maximum growth. Why do the seeds need to be germinated first? In addition to the possibility of not being able to grow freely, this germination process is important for:

  • Provide an opportunity for you to see the feasibility of seeds for cultivation.
  • It is possible to add many plants to a narrow place.
  • Accelerating the process of growing even in just a few days the seeds germinated immediately emerge roots and stems.

Ok, let’s consider how to germinate seeds. Take a tissue and wet it or coffee filter. Coffee or tea pulp can hold the moisture needed by seeds to germinate.

Using a coffee filter is better because the root of the seed can grow well in the coffee filter when moving the soil you have no difficulty in moving the roots.

Put the seed into a wet tissue or into a coffee filter and place it in a baggie sandwich. Remember! Don’t close the baggies tightly because it can affect the temperature for seed development.

The temperature in the baggie must be between (65-75 ° F). During its development period, always monitor the temperature and if the tissue has dried you must provide mist or mist spray.

The seeds you add will bring out the roots in a few days or a few weeks. If you have seen growth such as rooted or emerging stems, move the seeds to moist soil.

If the seed root enters or breaks through the tissue, cut the tissue around the root so that it does not interfere with the seed root system. Bury the seeds into the moist soil along with the tissue that sticks to the roots.

What About Hard Seeds

What if the seed you plant is a seed that is difficult to germinate. Some seeds have very hard skin, making it difficult to penetrate water.

This will complicate the germination process. You have to outsmart it by soaking the seeds overnight. In fact, some planters use hydrogen peroxide to soften the seed coat. If you want to use this liquid, dissolve the water and hydrogen peroxide with the same ratio.

Among the seeds that have hard skin and are hard to germinate is the bean shell, sweet pea, nasturtium and morning glory. The seeds like this must be germinated with the ways above.

In some types of seeds, the package said “nick” seed coat. By tearing the seed layer it will increase the level of success in seeding because it provides slit for water to enter to the seed. For making this hole with a small size, you can use nail clippers or sharp little knives.

Another way to stimulate seed germination by opening the seed layer is to rub the seeds in the file until the seeds open slightly.

Another way to accelerate the germination of seeds is to combine the two methods above. You must soak the seeds using hydrogen peroxide until the roots appear. Soaking with this substance will stimulate faster growth than just using ordinary water.
