Ok, let’s just go into the first discussion of this obligatory bath, namely the causes.

Causes of Ghusl Janabat

Ghusl janabat is quite an important matter of purification. Without ghusl janabat, a person with great hadas will not be able to carry out his religious obligations such as praying, fasting and other worship such as reading the Koran etc. So ghusl janabat is the main thing that mukallaf or people who are already baligh must learn.

The reason for a person to do ghusl janabat is due to several things, including:

1. Marital relationship

If a couple engages in conjugal intercourse, it is obligatory for them to take a ghusl janabat, whether the intercourse causes semen to be released or not.

The standard is: Meet the genitals of men and women, it is obligatory to do ghusl janabat or take a big bath.

Intercourse in the term syara ‘is to enter the testicles into a woman’s faraj with the level of hasyafah (the level of the part that is circumcised), so it is mandatory to take a bath either out of semen or not.

In the hadith of Ibn Majah, Rasulullah SAW said: When meeting two genitals, it is obligatory to perform ghusl janabat.

2. Semen out

Furthermore, the cause of perform ghusl janabat is out of semen. It is not necessary to have semen or sperm when intercourse, whatever actions cause sperm to come out, it is obligatory for him to take a janabat bath.

3. Mati yang bukan syahid

Furthermore, the caused for bath is dead who are not martyrs. However, this obligation is imposed on those who are believers and are still alive. Because it is impossible to be legally transferred to the janazah.

However, the purpose of dying here is that which is not a martyr, while being martyred or dying in the way of Allah, it is not obligatory for other Muslims to wash it, even it is haram to bathe a martyr.

For a martyr, the blood marks on his body will be a witness in the afterlife that he is a martyr in the way of Allah.

4. Menstruation

This is a case that happens to women only. Baligh women are characterized by several things and one of them is menstruation. A woman who is at least 9 years old and her menstrual period is out then this is a sign that she is already mature. Well, coming out of this menstrual period causes her to do ghusl janabat or a big hadas when the menstruation has stopped.

The menstrual period for women is usually 6-7 days, some of which are a day and a night, and some have the most menstrual period, which is 15 days and nights. Now, after this menstruation stops, she must take a janabat

5. Postpartum

Postpartum is blood that comes out with the birth of a baby. Well, this blood is called puerperal blood and when this blood stops it is obligatory for the woman to perform ghusl janabat.

Postpartum blood also has certain periods according to the habit of menstrual blood (habit). The least amount of postpartum blood is lahdhah (a bit of an eye), the habit of menstrual bleeding is 40 days and as much menstrual blood is 60 days and nights.

6. Wiladah (giving birth)

Childbirth can also cause a person have to perform ghusl janabat. So bathing is compulsory here not because he is bleeding postpartum (along with childbirth) but because of the birth of a child.

So, the point is that if the baby is born and there is no postpartum blood, the woman still has to take a mandatory bath because of the wiladah.

However, the fact and reality that usually happens is that someone in a container must have postpartum blood. but it is not impossible that someone can give birth to children without the delivery of the childbirth, God is almighty over all things.

There are some reasons for ghusl janabat. If any of the above happens, then we are obliged to take a junub bath or have a large hadas bath. If you have not done a big bath (obligatory), then it is haram for people who are crowded or people who have great needs to pray, read the Koran, fast and others.

The Pillar for Ghusl Janabat

Rukun is something that makes something else invalid without it, and it is a part of that thing. An example is reading fatihah in prayer or salah, this is a pillar because without it the prayer is invalid and it (fatihah) is part of the act of prayer itself.

Ok, now we will see what are the pillars of a ghusl janabat so that it is legal to take a janabat that we do. There are two pillars of madi junub, namely:

1. Niyyah for eliminate great hadas

This is an intention that must be present in our hearts that we take advantage or eliminate great hadas on our bodies. So, as soon as the water falls on the body, the intention of taking a bath must appear.

If not, or if a new intention arises in the heart after entering part of the body, then the limb that was washed before the intention must be washed again.

The following are the mandatory bathing intentions in Arabic

NAWAITU RAF’AL HADASIL AKBAR LILLAHITA’ALA

Meaning: I intend to remove the great hadas because of Allah SWT.

That is the intention to take a mandatory bath, what we must do is the intention in the heart like that intention. but you do not have to intend in Arabic, any language can be used to intend to bathe.

2. Wash the whole body

The second pillar or thing that should not be left behind is to distribute water throughout the body. If the water is uneven throughout the body because there is glue, wax, sap etc. on the skin then the obligatory bathing is invalid. If the obligatory bathing is not valid, then the worship that requires us to be pure from the hadas, is not valid to do like praying and others.

Washing the whole body or flattening the body with water includes distributing the water all over the thick hair, or thick beard, etc.

It also includes distributing water to the female genitals at the dhahir limit (the part that appears when a woman sits qadha hajat), the ear part of the dhahir and the nose of the dhahir. Likewise, it is mandatory to distribute water to the rectum or anus at the dhahir, which is the part that appears when qddha hajat.

So, if there is wax, glue, sap, and anything that prevents water from getting to the skin, it must be removed so that the water gets on the skin and legal bathing is mandatory. If not, then mandatory bathing is not valid.

Ghusl Janabat Guide, Step by Step

The first thing that is done in ghusl is intention, because everything depends on the intention. Rasulullah SAW Said:

Innamal a’malu bin niat

Meaning: All the deeds with intention

So, perform ghusl janabat also have to do intention in heart to make the act of ghusl is valid. The intention to janabat must arise when the water hits the body. So, the mandatory bathing steps can be made as follows:

Note: Wudu ‘when to do ghusl janabat is not wudu for merafa ‘hadas’, but this wudu is a sunnat for ghusl janabat.

Conclusion of Junub bath

Perform ghusl janabat is the principle of purification. If the obligatory bathing is not in accordance with the regulations that have been explained in fiqh, then the bath is not valid. For example, if there is a part of the body that is not exposed to water because there is a candle or glue, it is not valid to take a bath, and all worship that is done is invalid (as long as the worship obliges the holy of small and large hadas)
