Types of Abrasive Cleaners and The Benefits
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Abrasive Cleaners are devices made of particles and other abrasive materials. This abrasive cleaner is used to clean various objects, especially rough materials such as boards or iron. Among the abrasive cleaning agents are sandpaper, cleaning cushions and steel wool. The way this cleaner works is by rubbing it on the surface you want to smoothen it. The rougher the cleaning tool, the more abrasive, and the finer, the less abrasive it will be.

Other abrasive ingredients such as salt, baking soda. Both can be used to clean dull surfaces such as glossy objects. This tool should not be used on mica. If it is removed from the mica, it can remove the top surface.

We usually use sandpaper to smooth non-slip metal surfaces or non-slippery wooden surfaces. For use, you can use your hands directly manually or by using sandpaper on a machine so that it is more effective.

Mild Abrasives

These mild abrasives include fine plastic mesh, nylon sponge, rotten stone, whiting, and brass wool. Mild abrasives are not used to scrape rough metal surfaces but rather to clean the surface of wok, pan, drip pan or oven. Use as directed to remove stains on either a kitchen table or various household furniture.

Warning: This abrasive can damage delicate surfaces if rubbed hard. So pay attention to how it’s done and if it’s a pan or similar material, you don’t need to scrub hard.

Moderate Abrasives

In addition to mild abrasive cleaners, there are moderate abrasive cleaners such as fine pumice stone and steel wool. Steel wool is usually viewed from the size values of 0000-super fine, 000-extra fine, 00-very fine, 0-fine, 1-medium, 2-medium course, and 3-0 course.

Gradings 00 and finer should be used with care to remove oil, crusty foods such as rice scale, or scale burnt foods. This medium abrasive cleaner is not used for continuous cleaning because it can damage or erode the surface of the object. However, it is only used for cleaning stubborn stains.

Strong Abrasives

Strong abrasives are strong cleaners against very stubborn dirt such as scale on a barbecue grill. Among the strong abrasives are medium and coarse steel wool, coarse pumice, metal brushes, and silica sand. This type of cleaner is only used to clean things that are very difficult to clean with other ingredients. When it does not work with a plastic brush or fine sandpaper, the use of a strong abrasive is recommended.

Warning: This strong abrasive should only be used in certain cases. If you use it on smooth materials, it will easily scrape the surface and make it rough. In effect, it will be difficult to clean up in the future. So, use it only in certain places as needed.
